SOCIAL SECURITY BUILDING IN GIRONA

Project

Access to the building is through a open square which reflects the public use of the building, the latter fitting in with its surroundings through a series of gestures regarding volume.
The ground and first floors are set back: above the first floor a cut in façade appears and, lastly, the roof is inclined and signals the entrance to the building.
As for spatial distribution, particular attention is paid to logical movement around the building, permanent visual contact with outside, crisscross views and natural ventilation.
The heavyset façade is more energy-efficient than thinner facades, and the areas with more window space are protected by verandas and the trees from the neighbouring park.
